Correct. You aren’t permitted to save in this location: You cannot save or edit folders and files on your computer if you are experiencing this problem. The primary cause of this issue seems to be that the hard disk was formatted in an earlier version of the Windows NTFS file system, and since then, you have not formatted the disk. However, since it is now impossible to format the entire hard drive, we have discovered specific solutions that appear to resolve the problem. When using your computer, you can suddenly run into the following error message:
The previous issue will appear when you try to save a file to a flash drive or hard drive. It is tough not to be able to save a file on your computer in the location of your choice. Taking ownership of the files doesn’t seem to make much of a difference.
You have no right to save in this place. [FIXED]
As a last resort, always build a restore point in case anything goes wrong.
Method 1: Grant Administrative Permissions for Membership in Groups
- To access User Account Settings, press Windows Key + R, type “netplwiz” (without the quote), and press Enter.
- Choose the user account displaying the problem from the list of users.
- Click Properties after the user has been selected.
4. Now, switch to the Group Membership tab in the new window.
- You will see three options: Standard, Administrator, and Other. Make sure the Administrator checkbox is checked, then click Apply and OK.
- You will now have the full power to save or edit file permissions on your Windows 10 PC, enabling you to make changes to any file or folder with Administrator skills.
- Close everything to fix this. Please try saving the file again, as you cannot save in this place.
Method 2: Change Permissions
- Open the C: drive, then use the right-click menu to choose Properties.
- Select Security from the menu and press the Edit button.
- Verify that the Administrator and home users have full control.
- Click Apply and then OK.
- Once more, right-click the C: drive and choose Properties.
- Select the Security tab and press the Advanced button.
- Go to Change Permissions in the Advanced Security Settings window.
- Select Edit after selecting the user account that is displaying this issue.
- Check “Basic Permissions” and make sure “Full Control” is selected, then click “OK.”
- Next, select Apply and then OK.
- To save changes, shut off everything and restart your computer.
You don’t have permission to save in this location, which should be fixed by following this step. However, if it doesn’t work for you, don’t worry—we have a solution that allows you to save the file where you want.
Method 3: Workaround
If you don’t want to try any of the more involved methods mentioned above, you can use this workaround, which allows you to save the file in whatever location you like.
Right-click the shortcut that begins the software and then click Run as Administrator to start the program. Once the software is finished, save the file to the preferred directory. Hopefully, this time, you can complete the task successfully.
Method 4: Format the drive as NTFS
Avoid cleaning the Windows-containing drive, as it will erase everything.
- Open One Windows File Explorer by selecting This PC with Windows Key + E.
- Choose the drive that has problems, then use the right-click menu to choose Format.
Note: Because Local Disk (C:) contains Windows, be sure not to choose it.
- After that, choose the default NTFS file system from the selection.
- Click to check the box for Quick Format, and then click Proceed.
- Shut down everything and attempt to save the file in the intended location once more.
If the problem persists after trying the above solutions, you must format your entire disk using the NTFS (default) file system and install Windows to resolve it permanently.
